Engagement Sessions

Why should you have an engagement session?

Show your loved ones how and where your love story began with your own engagement photo session. Engagement sessions are an ideal way to get to know us better behind the lens before your wedding day and for you to gain confidence in front of our camera. An e-session is a perfect start to a romantic date night too.

Your session can be as simple as a stroll through your favorite park, a mocha at your favorite café’ or even a romantic return to where your love proposed. Formal or informal photos from your engagement session make a beautiful custom guest-signing book for the wedding day and decorative pieces for your reception. They can even be used for Save-the-Date cards, invitations or Thank You cards.

When do you offer your engagement sessions?

Most engagement sessions are only available Monday-Thursday due to our wedding schedule. Yes we do occasionally offer engagement sessions Friday-Sunday based on availability. Most sessions are photographed within an hour of Spokane or a travel rate may apply. Do you have a special destination in mind? Let’s get excited about your idea together, we want to hear the details!

The session typically is scheduled in the spring through fall months at 5:30 or 6 pm and 3pm in winter months. Night shoots are available by request but may require an additional fee.

What should you wear?

Here are a few tips we like to share when you’re thinking about what to wear for your e-session:

Avoid being too matchy-matchy. Gone are the days of couples wearing white t-shirts and jeans. You’ll want what you wear to complement each other, not copy! (Using a pop of color to tie both of your outfits together always works well).

For women, avoid shirts that are baggy or super-loose. Sometimes the camera can exaggerate the looseness in the clothing, which can cause one to appear more round than they really are.

Feel free to bring an outfit change (one casual look, one dressy look). It’s always good to switch things up a bit and if we change locations, it will essentially be like you had two photo shoots.

Solid colored clothing items are great and if you want to bring in a pattern, have only one person wearing the pattern.

Wear what you feel comfortable in. If you’re not comfortable in what you’re wearing it often shows in the images.

If you wear heels, also bring flip-flops or other shoes that you can be more comfortable in while walking in-between shots.

Try on everything a few days before the shoot. You’ll want to make sure your clothes fit correctly and you don’t have distractions from lint, panty lines, bra straps, poor fitting clothing or wrinkles!

Should I get my makeup professionally applied?

There are many benefits to having professionally makeup:

Makeup looks different on-camera than in-person and a professional makeup artist will know how much more makeup you’ll need to show well on camera and make you look your best!

Your skin will look better in the photos. (We highly recommend that you use a makeup artist who airbrushes your makeup) you’ll be amazed how gorgeous your skin looks!

A trial run for your wedding day makeup is always recommended. You can find out what works and make adjustments for your wedding day if needed.

Should we bring props?

Brining props for your photo shoot is completely up to you. Are there special items that reflect something about you two or your story that you would like to incorporate into photos? Bring them (hats, fun shoes, a pet, sports paraphernalia, a car, bicycles, etc.)! If you have any fun signs or other props for a great “save the date” shot for you to use, bring those as well. It’s completely up to you.

Is there anything else we should bring?

Bring powder to help eliminate any shine on the skin, lipstick, and hairspray and an extra clip or two for any flyaway hairs. Other than that you’re good to go! Be ready to have some fun!
